BUILD A BAND 2008 – WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
If you're a musician aged 14-18 Youth Music & Rough Trade are offering you the chance to perform on the Left Field stage at the world famous festival
So what’s the catch?
We’ll actually create a brand new band specially put together to perform at Glastonbury and the members won’t meet until the Thursday of the festival! They’ll then write their own song with help from some famous music types and perform it three days later on Sunday, the last night of the festival on the Left Field stage in front of an audience of 5,000!
THE RULES
1. This competition is only open to individuals that are UK residents (this includes the Channel Islands) and aged between 14 and 18 on JUNE 26, 2008. Youth Music is unable to contribute to the expenses of finalists outside England and Wales.
2. Entrants must complete the ONLINE ENTRY FORM and upload an AUDIO / VIDEO DEMO - MAXIMUM LENGTH 3 MINUTES.
3. You must be performing in the demo ie. singing / MCing /playing an instrument. This can either solo or as part of a band.
4. Only one entry will be accepted per person.
5. Entries must be received by the closing date of 5pm on MONDAY MAY 19, 2008.
6. Auditions will be held in MAY and JUNE in London in LONDON, BRISTOL, MANCHESTER and LIVERPOOL. Youth Music WILL NOT reimburse travel costs to auditions.
7. A panel of judges will select the Build A Band members and a reserve list by JUNE 16, 2008. Winners will be contacted personally by phone and by email.
8. The Build A Band winning members will be contacted by JUNE 16, 2008.
9. The Build A Band winning members must be available (with parent(s) or guardian(s) if under 18) to perform at the Left Field Stage of Glastonbury festival between June 25-29, 2008.
